I've reviewed the guides in this section for attending some of the better known amps. However, at the risk of seeming naive, how do you handle the neighborhood parlor rates?

I have my favorite MT's that give extras & know how they work. I also have some Chinese therapists that may be either L-0 or L-1 that give a rate and collect it at the end of the session. In both cases, there is only one payment including any tip.

Recently, I saw an ad for an Asian massage near me. The rate was seventy per hour and fifty for a half hour. No mention was made of tips, so I thought it was a regularly priced L-0 massage.

When I got there, a girl greeted me and led me to a room. She then asked for the seventy up front and introduced me to my therapist. That was my first clue I was going to get all my muscles rubbed. The second was when the therapist did some light screening to see if I might be LE.

On the flip, she asked if I knew there was a tip involved. I told her I suspected so when the other girl collected up front and asked how much. She told me forty and up. Forty was for a HJ. I asked what up was and she said that was for when she knew me better.

I enjoyed the massage and excellent L-1 and provided the obligatory forty tip willingly and with a smile.

My question is, if you opt for a 30 minute session (paying the "house" less money), is the tip still the same amount? There is less time involved, but the other part is the same.

If you are talking about massage places and not amps, the standard is 40.00 for an L1. It doesn't matter if its 30 minutes or 60 minutes. If you are talking about amps, its 30 minutes 40.00 house 100.00 girl. 1 Hour is 60.00 for house, 140.00 for girl. Your standard tip for a regular massage place with no extras is 20.00 for the hr.

What MustangRider said is correct. As far as the "and up" portion...I would say the next step up from $40 is $80-$100. I have seen some guys tip $60 and get away with it but if you are trying to become a regular...probably not best.

It is a massage parlor in an office building. Not equipped with showers. If cutting the session from an hour to 30 minutes only saves 20, I'll take the extra back rub. That is cheaper than a chair massage & feels a LOT better.

If the L-1 is a 40 tip, L-2 is 80? I was hoping for 20 increments I don't guess they'd be offended if I asked. However, her L-1 was so good, I don't know if L-2 would be an "upgrade" or not.

I'm all for getting your money's worth but when you start haggling over a difference of 20 bucks for a BJ I think one comes off as a cheap bastard and the girl wont give you her best. As to the amount of the tip for a HJ being different for a 30 minute session as opposed to a 60 minute session. I look at it this way, the HJ is still going to take the same amount of time either way, so tip what you should if it was a good HJ. I think the reason for a $60 difference in tip for an AMP session is because the girl is expected to provide FS for that extra half hour and should be compensated for it. It all seems pretty fair to me. Where else can you just walk in, usually have a choice of VERY attractive women and know exactly what you can expect to pay? It's why I just don't bother with the Indy hunt anymore.

Old Grump that is an interesting question, because it can depend on the situation. I would agree with what most of the guys have already stated.
In regards to the AMP's I have always paid the standard fee's whether it is for 30 minutes or an hour because I'm going for full service. In the suburban spa's I always leave 40 on the table up front after paying the door fee for both 30 and 60 minutes. If the hour session is a good one I will throw another 20 in the pile, if the session is poor/mediocre 40 is paid which is still a decent tip for an hour's work. If there is an extended menu then of course the fee structure increases. There are some ladies who give poor massages and poor service, I will not see them again but don't feel guilty about leaving a 40 tip for an hour's work.

Sawyer, you are right. I don't want to haggle, and won't. That's why I came here to tap on the expertise of the more experienced in this area.

I had drawn the same conclusion on the HJ price for the girl doing it. I was just trying to define the difference between a 30 & 60 minute session. This dual pay scale is new to me. I don't object to it, I just want to do it right.

I tend to over analyze things before acting on them. I'm seldom surprised that way but do lose out on the excitement of spontaneity.

I'd have to ditto what everyone else said, OG. Giving a decent tip will get you better service and when the help at the place is spotty, the mamasan will usually guide the better talent your way. I've heard the girls say flat out that they don't like to deal with hagglers and cheapskates.

If your experience was good, it might be nice if you shared the name of the place and the therapist with us.

As I mentioned, I do not haggle. I usually go to providers that expect only their fee. I take a "provider appropriate" gift, gift card, or tip.

I thought this was a legit massage (L-0). I think I covered myself well. When she mentioned the additional tip after the flip, I was pleasantly surprised and complied willingly. This was my FIRST experience with a la carte services. That is why I came to this forum for advice on proper procedures.

The "mamasan" was a hot looking Korean chick a little younger than the one who massaged me. Not like the Chinese places I go for reflexology.
