autistic nephew

My brother is convinced that there is something wrong with his son. He has taken him to doctor after doctor and finally got a diagnosis of "slightly autisitic".
So now the child has been tested for everything known to man and he is allergic to EVERYTHING, banannas, milk, gluten, protein, peanut butter.. you name it.. even the air he breathes.
His nutritionist has the kid on a strict diet and this will help him she says. I am so furstrated.. Why is it one child is fine and it seems the other is "defective" . I am so upset, I think there is some truth to the vacination thing, but the younger brother got the same and he is fine.
I don't know what to do to help my nephew and my brother WITHOUT speaking my mind. I try to support him and do what I can to help, but at this point I am so upset.

What kind of suggestions are you looking for if speaking your mind isn't an option? It sounds like the situation is very sensitive.

Not for sure what kind of ideas you are looking for.

Are you feeling "it is not fair - why him"? Are you feeling "he has difficulties, but may be blessed in ways no one knows yet"?

Are you looking for info as ib1gypsy asked? Are you looking for us to come up with ideas as to what could have caused this childs current problems?

I guess I am furstrated by ignorance.
They are convinced that he is different and I am worried that he will be "labled" as special needs.
They are loading him up with vitamins and minerals which is fine.. but they all blame it on his condition.
They did their own research in the internet and took him to doctor after doctor UNTIL they got the diagnosis they wanted... slightly autistic.
The child had his adnoids out at 2, he was delayed in speech for a while because he couldnt hear.. now is is taking off and doing very well. He is 4 now and that is just it.. he is a kid. do they have to be in awe and completly attentive to adults? heck I cant even pay attention half the time and am I autistic?
just frustrated.. i guess.
I wanted a more natural approach to his treatment and recommended massage, cranio sacral and my brother went for the drugs at first.. well it was the drugs (vacinations) that got him in this situation in the first place.
So he is trying a nutritinalist. I guess I shouldnt complain, he is atleast listening to me in small ways.
