Advice for a newbie to sushi?

I am having dinner with a friend this weekend. I've never eaten raw fish in my life, but that's all we're going to be ordering.

What should I get? Is there a fish that stands out as the best raw? I want to make a good impression, and I'd rather not throw up all over the table.
Yes, I realize there is sushi without raw fish. I'm a huge fan of california rolls and that supermarket stuff. However, i've never been to an upscale sushi place and my friend has informed me that we will be having "sushi sushi, you know, raw fish."

I'm not stupid or completely uncultured.
