16 Qt Roaster Oven instead of Hot Towel Cabi??

I just found a roaster at Target for 14.98!! and I think I can use it for hot towels. It has a rack in the bottom to hold a turkey off the bottom, but i think it might work. It has temperature settings 100,200,300,350,400,450 etc..
should I put a little water in the bottom?
Then wet towels and roll them up?
And then what temp should I put it on? so I dont burn anyone?

Any feedback?

I used a turkey roaster for about a year to heat towels in before getting a cabi recently. While it does have it's down-sides (like putting out a lot of heat and making the room steamy) it certainly can work.

I would use the roaster for doing wraps when I needed more towels per client and use an electric skillet or crock pot if I only needed a few towels.

You simply wet the towels, wring them out, roll them up and put them in the roaster. If your roaster has an inset, then you would put a little bit of water (a few cups?) in the bottom of the roaster and then place the towels in the inset so there is a steaming effect. That way your towels are not in water so there's no need to wring them out again before using.

I don't remember exactly what temperature, so experiment but it wasn't that high....maybe 150-200??

i have seen my collegues use a roaster to house their hot stones, the room doesnt get too steamy.. which do you think is better? roaster or crock pot? and how would you do the crock pot with towels?

It depends on how many towels I need. The roaster holds more towels so is great for wraps but tends to be noisy and hot. The crock pot is smaller so it will only hold a few towels but doesn't put out as much heat. Also you only have 2 settings...low and high. I would use the crock pot on the low setting. My favorite if I'm only using a couple of towels is the electric skillet as it's small like the crock pot but can be put on the exact temperature that you need.

No matter which heating unit you use, the towels would be done the same way. You simply put them in the unit after wetting and wringing them out.

I have a 6 qt that I use to heat dry towels. 5-6 hand towels fold up and fit very well, get nice and hot but do not burn like wet could scald.

It was on clearance becuase of thankgiving and christmas, i guess they stock the shelves with these items for cooking. I got mine in the store.. red eforum.xxx 14.98 with the regualr priced ones.. It is in my office and I dont have the box here at the house. I will check it the next time i go into the office and reply back to this post with the name. But check the store, who doesnt love to shop.. hee hee
